Prego Partying: Belly Dance, Have Fun, It's Okay!....

When my friend asked me to come out for her birthday I was kind of hesitant. Going out to dance and not sit down and eat... Can a prego girl do that? After great positive feed back I decided I wanted to go. My only dilemma came about trying to find something to wear. Searching in my closet I found nothing. Then I realized you want something to hide your belly. So I got over it and realized...duh your pregnant...be cute and comfy! I finally found a great dress to wear and put my own spin on it. I made sure to paint my toes although I struggled, lol. I made sure I felt happy and looked great. After dealing with kids all day and being tired from late nights of no sleep I was ready to have a good time. I had a great time celebrating my friend's birthday. I danced and had fun with my friends and it  was very much needed. Some people will say you have to stay at home while pregnant but I say if your feeling okay go have a good time. A pregnancy is not meant to be hidden. I'm not telling my prego readers party every night and go get drunk...
Going out celebrating with friends and dancing won't hurt you. Christina Milian, Kourtny Kardashian, and many other Prego Mamas have been spotted out having a good time with friends and family. I'm not a celebrity but that night I had fun like one...lol.

Here are some tips on staying comfy if you choose to party

  • Choose an outfit you are comfortable in.
  • Drink plenty of water before going out and stay hydrated
  • Make sure you eat before you go out
  • Have a friend that will make sure you are okay thru the night
  • Its OK to sit down and relax...friends will come to you while you sit.
  • Make sure you have a safe driver if riding with others
  • Hand rails are your friend use them and a buddies' hand
Have fun every once in a while prego mamas because soon late nights will be diaper changing and bottle feeding!

Clogging Back Into Fall: The Come Back Shoe

We can't forget these Sweden originals...The Clog! We loved them in the 90's and now this fabulous shoe is revamped for this fall. The round toe, short or tall heel, and comfort like a tennis shoes have us loving them even more. Leather or suede the clog is making a come back into women's wardrobe. How can you wear these adorable shoes?...

Clogs are versatile and can be worn with skinny jeans, boot cut jeans, skirts, and dresses. A clog with leather and studs can replace the typical short boot or bootie. Clogs are now coming in suede and variety of colors but I'm loving the solid neutrals. Their a must have in the closet this fall. They work best with casual sexy combinations while giving comfort. So ladies make sure the heels of your feet are shiny and ready for display. You can find you a pair in just about any retail shoe store. The clog is a far cry from the original wooden shoe. Clog your way back into fall!

The Pity Party

My grandmother would always tell me tears wont solve the problem nor will it make anything better. I was a cry baby as a little girl and I sometimes still feel her resurface. We all have had a pity party at least once or twice in our lives. Some of us live are lives in a pity party and believe the world is against us. Maybe not everything is going our way so we just want to sit and wallow in depression. I can say I've been there. Depression brings heaviness upon our spirits. We get down and stay in a dark place not knowing how to get out of our despair. The Pity Party makes you feel alone but other types of friends will come and join you and none of them are positive. Okay we get down but in my pitiful moments I decided to get up out of my depression. I know God has much better in store for me. If you get down don't stay there forever. There will be moments of sadness, pain, and grief but choose to move on and find the good in your life. The Pity Party is never fun. Keep living and looking forward to the good no matter how hard it gets.

BB Mama New Product Review: BUTTER HANDS

Hey Mamas,

I'm always washing my hands or having them in some type of water. My hands tend to peel at the end of the day from all the cleaning and washing I do in the house. I have tried to put lotion or coco butter on them but after I wash my hands their back to being dry. Then Miss Oops Butter Hands came into my life and my hands are feeling brand new. I had to put this product to the test so I applied it once and went as I regularly do during the day. I washed dishes, washed my hands after diaper changes, washed clothes, and washed up little people. My hands still felt nice and no peeling. It felt like my hands were protected throughout the day. BUTTER HANDS has and SPF of 30 in it which is great for sun protection. It also has Sesame Seed Oil and Indica Seed Butter that keeps your hands hydrated without the greasy residue. I'm hooked on this hand cream that comes out the same color as butter with a sweet smell. Why a HATER Hates?...

We all have probably wondered why someone may hate us. Did we give them a reason to hate? Maybe that person never had a reason to hate you. I do know you can compare a hater to a bully. A hater usually isn't someone your scared of ...it's more of a pest or an annoyance to your life. A person that hates usually has low self esteem and lacks confidence. You can see these same qualities in a bully. A hater can be someone very close to you or someone you don't know. At times we feel sorry for a person that's a hater because their life revolves around trying to make someone else feel bad about their self. A hater only wants someone to feel exactly like them. All that time spent on hating instead of building up their own esteem to stop hating and be happy. If your not aware of the devices of a hater you can find your self being just like them.
A hater hates because they hate the person staring right back at them in the mirror. Some where deep inside the person their hating they wish to be like. Learn from a hater to keep loving and move on. It was once said it takes more muscles and time to make a frown. Life is not worth the time to be unhappy and to be angry. I say if your a hater or find your self slipping into hater mode... take a good look in the mirror and ask your self is this really worth my time. Its very easy to be negative than to be positive. You never know when its too late to make a change so why not do it today.

Sexy & Pregnant: Find out how you can keep being the hott one...

The belly is growing and will continue to grow along with many other body parts. Most women think this is the time to stock up on big t-shirts and sweat pants. STOP!!!! Pregnancy is a beautiful thing and your baby bump should not hide under big droopy clothes. We also don't want to wear too tight clothes that have us looking like we are wearing our pre-pregnancy clothes. So you may be wondering what should I wear to remain or become the super sexy prego mama... You must first understand that being sexy is classy and not trashy. Being sexy comes with confidence and being aware your body's beautiful curves.  Right now mama while pregnant you got curves and all the right places so enjoy it!

Here are some pieces you should add to your wardrobe to spice up your look. Also with your sexy wardrobe check out  little things you can do to be a hot mama.

  • Jeggings: The jean legging with stretch has comfort and style for your growing body. Try pairing some jeggings up with a flowy top that comes down pass the belly and hits the hip.http://www.express.com/home.jsp Check out Express for some sexy jeggings that fit your style!

  • Kitten Heels: OK while your pregnant you hate to wear heels. Flats can be cute but we are going for sexy. Kitten Heels or Cigarette heels give you just enough heel and height. Your calf muscles need length for dresses and skirts. Kitten heels come in many different styles just look for the heel! http://www.shopstyle.com/browse?fts=kitten+heel# Check out this link and find a wide variety of kitten heels for summer and fall.

  • Shorts: Yes you need some sexy shorts. They are made and such a nice variety of colors and styles. I would start off with black shorts. You can get a lot of wear out of them. Dress your shorts up and down. When being sexy dress them up with your kitten heel. If your a super sexy mama put them on with high heels. Your legs will have crazy length. So while the growing belly is out...your legs are showing off too! Click the link and check out fun sexy styles just for you.http://www.oldnavy.com/products/womens-shorts.jsp Old Navy has a nice selection of shorts in different styles.

  • Try a Variety of Sexy Tops: Off the shoulder...super sexy! Layered flounce silk tops give your belly nice shape and room to breathe. Asymmetrical Knit Tunics are flowy but wont have you look big and bulky. Deep V shirts or simple V cut shirts give your growing bust line nice lines along with that growing bump. If you don't want to shop in maternity stores...Try going to other trendy stores and buy 1-2 sizes up from your original size. Its really all about the cut and style. Don't get locked into empire waist tops as the only style a prego mom can wear. There are many different styles of shirts that flow out or stay fitted to the body and give nice silhouettes around the belly.

I didn't forget to share my little things you can do to be sexy...
  1. Keep your toes polished. People never would think a pregnant woman would be able to touch her toes. It's a must to keep them polished and try hot colors like red, hot pink, and coral.
  2. Find our your right bra size. Your bust might be growing and you don't want your bust line blending in with the belly...not cute!
  3. A chunky ring, ankle bracelet, hooped earrings, or bangle bracelet are fun ways to make your sexy wardrobe pop!
  4. Stay up on your skin care. Try getting a facial and always make sure your face and body is glowing. Try exfoliating the body and using body and face bronzers for that extra glow factor!
  5. A new hairstyle never hurts. Try color and something opposite of your ordinary style. A new look always makes you feel sexy and confident.
So to all my Sexy Prego Mamas have fun shopping and finding your inner sexy diva!

Aqueelah Williams: A true star behind the many faces on a cover

Hey Mamas,

Welcome to my new edition of Chronicles of Blaque Beauty Mama. My treat to you and new format is to provide you with great blogs in magazine format. What better way can I start off my new style with an exclusive interview about Aqueelah Williams. If you don't know her name you might have saw her face and name grace the covers and pages of Black Sophisticates and many other black magazines you know and love. Not too long ago I caught up with Aqueelah to find out more about her career and the humble beginnings of her start in the beauty industry. I promise this is a treat... I hope you enjoy

BBmama: When and how did you start out in the beauty industry?
AW: I started when I was 18, my first real job as a receptionist for a black owned beauty/ hair magazine company.

BBmama:What was the benefit of starting out young in the beauty field?

AW: My lack of terminology and industry etiquette afforded me the chance to experience different avenues of the business, constantly given tasks out side of my job description. Being on photo shoots, traveling, modeling I learned everything! I moved up in the company quickly because of the fresh ideas I had. I got hip and stayed with the company long enough to build relationships and freelance with other companies. After a while I was more of a partner/advisor not an employee.

BBmama:What are your talents?

AW: I’m a published MUA, that has had jobs as a production manager, model, modeling instructor, photography coordinator, and wardrobe stylist. Within the last few years I've added lash tech and wig stylist to my arsenal.

BBmama:How did you learn to be a makeup artist?

AW: I'm self taught, some of the tips and tricks I learned from the artist I use to hire for shoots at the mag. Most of my practice was on my self, I had my own formula no real rules

BBmama:Who have you worked with in the beauty industry

AW: My resume includes and is not limited to: Miss USA, Cover Girl Tour, Clinique, Mirror Image Cosmetics, B.E.A.T., Little Mo, KeKe Wyatt, Sicili Sewell, The Philadelphia Eagles (print), and The Baltimore Ravens (commercial).I also have tear sheets from my published work featured in: Sophisticates Black Hair, Salon Profiles, Da Book Magazine, and Salon One. Allen Media Group and Spicer Productions…

BBmama:What are your likes and dislike in the beauty industry?

AW: I like the beauty industry for staying trendy and because of that it has highs and lows for a freelance artist, so that's not consistent pay which is my small dislike however it keeps me on my toes.

BBmama:Tell us one thing you think people don’t know about makeup artistry?

AW:People don't know that its not as easy as it looks, for example to create a "natural" look can require a lot of makeup.

BBmama:What is Powder Room Consulting? When did you start it?

AW:I started the group a few years ago, we serve as a liaison between the client and the beauty industry.

BBmama:What are the services you provide?

AW: I merged my experience with skilled professionals through powderroomconsulting as a platform where artists, stylist, and photographers can provide expert assistance.

BBmama:How is your career now being a newlywed and mommy?

AW:I’m learning every day, its all about balance.

BBmama:What would you like to do in the future in the beauty field?

AW:In the future I want to brand my own "beauty survival kit" and mineral line, and I’d also love to have a beauty supply store.

BBmama: Name 2 words to describe you?

AW:Versatile and highly motivated…

After chatting with Ms. Williams I can agree with those two words.

In a boyz world

Hey Mamas,

Last week my heart way beating fast as the lady traced over my belly. The baby looks perfect I was told but I really wanted to know what was the sex. I closed my eyes then opened again to see...yes its another boy. I cried because I was hoping for my daughter. No...another little boy. At that point I was really sad and disappointed and no one could understand it but me. I came back to the waiting room to see all my sons sitting there quietly and strangers looking at my boys in amazement. They are so well behaved I have heard many times while out but I know better. I remember in the past as an teenager I was boy crazy. I was always involved or looking for some guy. Its amazing the irony and humour God can have with you. I had to set my emotions aside and see what God wants me to learn from this circle. I can't say I fully figured it out all the way. One thing I do know I was given these beautiful boys that will grow up to be great men that will love me forever. So I'm happy with boy number 6. I'm happy to say I'm having another little man in my life that will love me and likewise I do the same. While I'm trying to understand the lessons God wants me to learn the boys will be right there with me. My disappointment fades and I look forward to the future and a life without circles.

So... stock up on your flats fast!!!! Check out Payeless
They are having some nice deals and I just went to Target and saw some cute ones I'm thinking of getting. You can't go wrong with a flat majority of the time. Get yours today!

The Token One...

Hey Mamas,

I remember back in the day 90210 had not one black person on the show. Now we see  a couple of different black faces on the show and one of the main characters is a black boy. In my head I think should I really be jumping up and applauding the fact that one token black boy made it on the show. Yes, its nice to see us on television but why is there such a lack of us on shows. My sons love to watch reruns of Everybody Hates Chris . Now a perfectly decent show is off the air and CW places shows on with no plot and the dialog is boring. You can flip through the channels and every time see a white face. The only time you will see a black face on a consistent basis is  on BET or TV One. What ever happen to great quality black shows like Cosby and A Different World? I still today can watch reruns of both shows and laugh. It was said that during the time A Different World was on t.v. there was an increase of young black children wanting to attend black colleges. I love to see us in comedy but its getting rather played out to see our own always being the clowns. In the movies we see so many token black actors. I'm starting to wonder are these actors not caring at all to be stereotyped. There are a few good shows out there that I like. I am looking forward to The Game coming back on... another  good show cancelled by CW. I also saw a new spy show coming out with Boris Kodjoe and another black actress. Well we will see what shows come out this fall. Obama is president but you still can't get a good foundation of  black shows and movies with great plots and drama. Have things really changed?... HMmmmm....

It's all possible!!!

Hey Mamas,

I took a little break from the blogging. I have been busy with some projects that are making me very happy. Tyra Banks and many others stand tall, happy, and proud when receiving awards for their hard work and I feel the same. I didn't receive an award but I really feel like I got one. July has been a successful month for me. My sister and I finally formulated products for our business Soul Sistah Cosmetics. We were vendors at an event and sold all of our lip balms. I also got to feature my blog at the event and have some new readers. I found out I'm a great graphic artist and website designer. I never thought I could build my own website. My home is finally in order and the boys are doing great with the chores. Trust me my life isn't always a bowl of sunshine but my accomplishments mean so much to me. I'm moving at a pace that Christ wants me to be at and if I have him in my corner I'm good. I'm a mother of 5 and sometimes that can be really difficult to make things happen. In the month of July I found out it's possible to do all the things I want to do for my self and my family. It's hard work but its all worth it!...

The No, No Zone: Talk 2 Your Kids About Molestation

Hey Mamas,

Sorry to say it but we are living in a sick world. In Maryland numerous reports of child molestation are being reported. The sad fact is many of these children are only in the age range of 1-4yrs old. One major thing a mother and father should know is most child molestation occurs from a relative. Many children don't tell their parents because they believe it will hurt the family. I know for myself I talk to my children about good touch and bad touch. I also tell them the right names for their private parts so if something happens they can tell me exactly the area that has been touched. I know it may be horrible to think your child might become a victim of child molestation but it's good that you prepare them early about the society they live in. I remember when I was younger some of my classmates still believed babies were delivered by storks and didn't know the proper name for their private parts. A misinformed child leaves room for child predators to easily harm and take advantage of their ignorance. I let my boys know I don't care if its a relative, teacher, or stranger you tell me if someone touches you the wrong way. Kids are never to young to learn about good touch and  bad touch. If you haven't had that talk with your children maybe you should start today. Molestation is something that can affect a child when they become an adult. We have to make sure we are raising and protecting our children to be happy and successful adults. Talk to your kids today.

Never Underestimate Your Kids

Hello Mamas,

After talking to my twin about getting control over the house work in the home I finally made a chore chart. I usually do all the chores in the house alone believing the boys are too young to help. So when I sat down to make the chore chart I had to think about what could the the boys truly do without driving me crazy. I'm shocked that I came up with about 15 things within the house my little ones can do with no problems. Yesterday we started the chore chart and to my surprised everyone was very excited. My son that's two helped me with breakfast and did a great job. My oldest vacuumed and so much more to my surprise he was able to accomplish on his own. At night before I turned off the lights I looked at the downstairs in disbelief.  I must say I underestimated my sons' ability to do chores. I'm happy for the simple advice I received. I hope these chores will teach the boys responsibility and make them great men in the future. Chores are great for kids and great for mommy too.

Peek-a-Boot: The Hottest Transitional Trend

Hey Mamas,

Some people may think boots in the summer that will never be me. The latest trend is Peep-toe Boots. You can match them up with just about anything. I have seen them in many fun colors that will have your wardrobe popping with color and texture. The fabulous thing about these boots are they transition into fall. You can wear your peep-toe boots with some skinny jeans in the fall and still look in season. Next time you go shopping invest in some peep toe boots. I promise you will get your money's worth out of these shoes.

Success:Does this come with a cost?... (For a Woman)

Hey Mamas,

You remember that movie Baby Boom? Well this movie has been recently coming on lately. I used to watch it with my mother and sisters when I was younger. I would watch it but never truly understand it. My sisters and I would ask my mother dumb questions about the movie and my mother would explain to us the situation like we were adults...lol. So recently while watching it I finally understood the movie and could relate it to my life. My sons were watching it with me and were asking the same dumb questions I was asking when I was younger but I realized something... they are boys. Little boys become men and will never truly understand this movie. If you never seen Baby Boom its about this woman that has a career at this firm. She is very powerful and focused on her career. Being a woman she doesn't want anything to stop her from making partner but a great unexpected change awaits her in the future. Her cousin dies and wants her to take over the care of raising his daughter. In a split second her life changes and a little baby girl turns her world upside down. I have to say the major part in the movie that affected me is when her boss said a woman cant be successful like a man. If she decides to get married or have a baby she wont be able to perform her duties on the job like a man can. The sad thing and I believe its true... that she cant. Some women will think I'm crazy but think about it. Usually a woman has to give up something to make life easier in the home. In the movie the lady became successful but she had to sacrifice some things. She ended up moving, working from home, having a crib in her office, and sometimes taking her daughter with her to do business. I don't think it is horrible or wrong that we have to sacrifice and make changes as women to have successful careers but it can be more difficult. At times I feel our fight can be harder but it makes us stronger. A famous author I remember watching on show has six children. When they were younger she said she would be up in the middle of the night writing her books. She went on to say cant count how many times one of her children would get up needing something or watching her type. A successful career for a woman comes with a cost and many sacrifices. I don't think it should get in any woman's way of achieving her goals. Can she have it all? I guess in our own little way we have just what we need.

-Peace

In a Time of Change

Hey Mamas,

I remember one of the biggest changes in my life is when I moved from Indiana to Baltimore. As a little girl I didn't know that this major move would change the life that I knew forever. When I came to Baltimore everything was so different. The people looked and talked different from me and I wasn't sure if that was a good thing. I am happy I made that major move as a child because usually children adapt and easily embrace change differently from adults. My parents making that one decision impacted so many things in my life like who my friends would be, my schools, my personality, the men in my life etc.I'm not mad about my parents decision because so many great things happened to me I would had never experienced. Even the bad that occurred in my life in Baltimore was only growth and needed change. A new job, relationship, or child can cause change. Time goes by and change keeps occurring in every ones life. In my life many good and bad changes are occurring at a rapid pace. At times while this change happens I'm not always happy about it. I realized I have to suck it up and deal. Some changes in my life have made me really sad but I cant let it stagnate my growth. I used to be scared of things being different in my life and sometimes I still am. I give my self a little pep talk that change must occur in all areas. I pray I'm always remain consistent in my life changes and embrace the future to come. Whether it be good or bad change must happen or we will never grow. As this world rotates we move with it never knowing all of life's changes. All I can do is pray for the good and ask Christ to help me get through the bad.

Fading Faces...

Hey Mamas,

Times out here are getting harder and things change at a rapid pace. Today friendship has been on my mind. When we go through things we hope for our friends to be there for us. I see in my own life tribulation only brings us further apart. A Facebook message, pictures, or a text becomes the norm of a friendship. A face fades and I'm starting to forget who my friends truly are in my life. I thank God for my blood sisters in my life that have truly been there for me. I just hope as time goes by my friends fading appear again. When times are hard that's when you stick close together. A battle is not fought alone. I think sometimes we just believe doing it all alone helps others not to feel a burden. If you have a friendship fading save it...if the person is worth not losing.

Ruffle & Hide: Camouflage areas you hate!

Hey Mamas,
You might not want to wear a body shaper this summer. I don't blame you its too damn hot! I do know I hate the bulge to show and round tires look unsightly to others. I got this email from Express showing cute ruffled clothes. When I saw the clothes I thought to my self this is a sure way to camouflage some not so appealing bulge. The layering of ruffles give texture and balance and distract the eyes from problem areas. Also if you get ruffles with a cute pattern you can appear to be very slim around the midsection. If you can see in the picture the ruffled dress is pulled in with a skinny belt. Try matching up a skinny belt with a ruffled shirt or dress. The belt can bring in the waist more and give your body more defined lines.Check out the link below to Express and Ruffle it up today!

Hey Mamas,

I would say this blog entry is a time for me to vent in my own way. We say no to many things that are bad for us. We say no to bad food, no to something too expensive, and no to many other things we know is just not right or us. So my stand for my self is to say no to negative people and things in my life. If the negativity is coming from me I choose to say no. Only you can allow people to be a negative energy in your life.
I choose to do right for my self. Sometimes eliminating people and things that cause you hurt or pain can be a step forward to something good. I take the stand to say no and pray that the Lord see me through the tough times.

Wearing white this summer?:Learn how 2 wear it right!

Hey Mamas,

White is on the scene and everyone wants to wear white pants. Boy short, skinny jeans, or many other styles are making their appearance this summer. You may be wondering how can I wear them? Here are some simple ways to stay stylish and not end up looking cheesy and too coordinated. No one wants to end up looking like a big blob of white.

  • When wearing shoes with white pants try neutrals like brown, nude, and cream. You can also wear animal printed and metallic shoes.
  • Try bright bold colored tops like hot pink and sunshine yellow. Bold colors are a nice contrast and will make your t-shirt or blouse stand out more.
  • Gold accessories bring in class to white pants. Hooped gold earrings and chunky gold cuff bangles make a statement.
  • Soft pastel tops matched with beaded necklaces, pearls, or studs can maintain a romantic look for those warm summer nights.
  • If you are matching a white shirt with white pants... try a print on the white shirt. Also try breaking up the white with an accessory. A belt, nice hobo bag, or neutral colored shoes can make the outfit complete.

Fear no more to wear white pants. Try these tips and leave the house in style!

Black on Black:Racism in Customer Service

Hey Mamas,

Last week I was in the grocery store. I get in line and an older white couple are in front of me. The cashier who is black looks up at me annoyed and continues to bag their groceries. She carries on a pleasant conversation with the white couple smiling and laughing with them. After she finishes bagging their groceries she asked them did they need stamps or anything else. When they leave she tells them to have a nice day and smiles. I come up she begins to talk to the other cashier next to her. I say hello...how are you?... and she continues to talk to other cashier. I then again say hello she responds o hello. She looks at me and continues to bag my groceries with no smile and no conversation. My youngest smiles at her and then she finally begins to talk to him and smiles. She is finished and no stamps are offered to me. I then say to her you have a nice day she looks up and said you too.

The sad fact is this happens everyday in customer service with black people. This wasn't the first time a black person in customer service treats a white person like gold in front of my face but treats me as unimportant. My sisters and friends can tell me their own experiences of black on black customer service racism. Has this cruel epidemic came from years of brain washing during slavery? As much as we have left the past behind things still remain the same. Do black people believe if they give poor customer service to a white person that could cost them their job? I thought bad customer service to anyone can cost you your job. I think everyone should be treated fairly and given the same treatment in customer service. If you don't like giving fair treatment don't work in the customer service business. I had to pull fair treatment out of that cashier. You would think we would treat our own with the greatest respect. Yes, the year is 2010 and I still get treated like a 2ND class citizen in the grocery store...lol ooh the irony.

Did You Know?: A lil about color theory

Hello Mamas,
Everyday we get up we pick out something to wear. You may put on a shirt or dress that's your favorite color. You may just throw on anything that's clean in the closet. In the color theory of clothes the color you wear means something about you. Your favorite color says something about you and your personality.
So here is a little that I learned...
Yellow is happy and fun...but you could be considered cheap. Yellow is the best color to dress your bridesmaids in to have a happy and wonderful wedding.
Orange shows you are out going and have alot of energy. You should wear this color if you plan to be social or go out to public events.
Green is considered to be the healthy choice. People that love to wear green are aware of their health and nature.
It was said to have purple sheets on your bed to have a better sleep because its a relaxing color.
If you love to wear red you are sexy and bold...well duh! Also red is considered to be the color for all you hot heads with the quick tempers.
Whatever color you like have fun wearing it!

Stacey Dash: Making her own way @ 43

Hey Mamas,
Yesterday I was watching a rerun of the Wendy Williams show. Her guest on the show was Stacey Dash. I must say I have always admired the beauty of Stacey that still hasn't lost it at 43yrs old. I found her interview to be very honest about her love life. Also she was very candid about the mistakes she made by sleeping with most of the men she married on the first date. Stacey went on to say she has never been without a man since the age of 17. Her story is way too often a common tale among black women. We search for love in all the wrong places. Majority of the time we feel validated as beautiful when a man tells us all the things we want to hear. The lack of self esteem drives us even deeper in our search all the while we are hurting ourselves. In the aimless search to find the right man or keep a man that treats you like crap you give and give of your self. At times we are too scared to be alone so we keep going from one man to another. We never stop to find the true man we need in our life. Most may wonder who is that perfect man that could help you find the right husband. Well, of course Christ should be the lead man in your life. Start with the best and you wont limit your self to scum because you will recognize righteousness easily. The sad fact is most of our mother's didn't teach us this but told us to find someone that will make us happy. How will you ever know true love or happiness if you don't go back to the source? So at 43yrs old Stacey Dash has to learn how to love her self, keep from dropping the panties to just anyone, and mentioned staying away from white men...lol. I don't know if Stacey is taking the steps of making Christ her lead man...probably not. Hopefully after she gets off the Jamie Foxx train she just might find her way out of her circle. To each its own. Thank you Lord for wisdom and understanding. You first must be a queen to get a king...

Kiddie Summer Fun Alert!

Hey Mamas,
Summer is here! The kids are almost out of school and I have a list of things I want to do with them. I have been talking about Shaw Orchards for some time now and plan to make a trip up there some time soon. At Shaw Orchards you can pick your own fruit and vegetables. After hearing that so many fruits contain large amounts of pesticides on them a trip to the orchard might be well worth it. Shaw Orchards has hayrides, picnic tables to eat your fruit, and prepacked fruit you can buy. I think the boys will have fun picking and eating fruit. Check out Shaw Orchards www.shaworchards.com ...maybe we will see you there with your little ones.
Peace & Many Blessings...Have fun this summer!

To Steal?...

Hey Mamas,
This morning I was listening to the Russ Parr Morning show. They had asked listeners did Alicia Keys steal Swizz Beats and was she a home wrecker. Many blog writers have bashed Alicia and believe she is a man stealer. The listeners gave mixed reviews on their thoughts. The crew on the show had their mind made up about Alicia being a so called home wrecker. Let's really think about this...why are people so concerned about their personal lives?I personally don't believe a man can be stolen. One I never thought a man becomes your possession. Swizz Beats made his choice for his own reasons but I don't think Alicia had in her mind I'm gonna steal you. I listen to these words and they sound childish. Mashonda said she was the perfect wife to Swizz but he didn't say Mashonda was the perfect wife. We can have illusions in our heads that everything is perfectly okay in our marriage but we all have something we need to work on. Its hard for a woman not to look at her self and wonder what she is doing wrong for the man to leave. We must also remember he left he wasn't stolen. If your child gets up and walks over to another mother and sits with them...was the child stolen or did the child leave? So my blog wont be another Alicia Keys bash session. I think people need to mind their own business. Maybe if others weren't so concerned about what is going on in another house they could pay attention to their own lives. People lets get a life! We can see Alicia Keys doesn't give a damn... she is pregnant, just bought a penthouse, and with a man she loves.

My 2nd grade bully

Hey Mamas,
Don't ask me if I remember her name...I don't think I can tell you the first letter of her name. I do remember how she made me feel. I do remember her face and the nasty words of hate that came my way. She was my bully and for awhile she made 2ND grade a kiddie hell for me. In her eyes my hair was ugly, my voice was weird, and my clothes were the most hideous thing she ever seen. Secretly she would sit next to me at lunch and say cruel things and I would move away from her. I was shy from another state and I didn't want to cause trouble. I had in my head stay away from her as much as possible and she would leave me alone. I was used to name calling at a young age. White kids in Indiana would call you a nigger to your face and laugh about it.
So there I was 2ND grade in Baltimore getting called more names. Never thought I would be picked on and hated by a little girl that looked like me. One day she said so much and I held it in for so long I started to cry. She laughed and then I walked off towards my sisters. We were waiting for the buses to come. My older sister Courtney asked me why was I crying? I finally told her about my bully and she told me to point her out. Courtney walked up to her holding my hand. She asked my bully was she picking on me and my bully said no. I told her yes she was and Courtney told her if she messed with me again she would beat her up. My bully never messed with me again after that.
Tonight on the news I see all this bully awareness going on. Little kids wanting to commit suicide because of their bullies. What I learned from my own bully experience is a bully is insecure about them self. The sad thing is the person being bully doesn't see the weakness in the other person they only see it in themselves. After second grade I never had another bully because I decided in my mind I would always speak up for my self. At times I was scared to tell someone to stop being a butt head towards me because it was a boy but then a another lesson came. The lesson from boys being jerks around that age was because they liked me and were too childish to say it. In this day in age I see bullying in many forms. I have once watched my oldest son excluded by other little boys his age. What I saw from him is he always bounces back and knows he has his family. Thank God for my father and mother giving me plenty siblings. I never felt alone. Talk to your kids about bullying. I tell my sons you should never be a bully and I build their confidence enough to let them know no one should make them feel like their nothing. Now is the time to talk to our kids about this epidemic that has been around for decades.

The Quick Natural Face Lift

Hey Mamas,

Are you sick of looking tired in the face? Sometimes there are very simple solutions for making your face brighter and younger. A natural face lift is what you need and I have the steps to achieve it. Follow these quick and easy steps and get a fresh look on life.

  • Exfoliate your face. You can use a facial scrub or a chemical exfoliant. Keeping your skin nice and smooth makes your face look vibrant.
  • Use an eye cream around the eyes at night. Even if you are 20 something it's never to early to take care of your eye area.
  • Keep your eyebrows arched and cleaned up. Don't over pluck the eyebrows too skinny. Try to keep natural looking brows. Make sure to keep them neat and free from unruly hairs. Nice eyebrows will open the face up and brighten up the eyes.
  • Wear eyelashes! You can get the individual lashes put on or wear the ones that come on a strip. Make sure the eyelashes look natural.

Follow these quick and easy tips and I'm sure you will never look tired.

Let Them Eat Dirt!

Hey Mamas,

One had dirt in his teeth and the other had mud on his shirt. I watched the other boys eat worms and laugh with dirt on their hands. Yes, my boys were eating dirt, mud, and worms last night. Jasiyah begged me to make this recipe that he had at school. Spring is now feeling like summer and all the family loves something cool and sweet. If you like to create quick fun desserts for your little ones try my "Worms in Dirt" recipe....

What you will need...

  • A pack of 6 JELLO chocolate pudding cups
  • Oreos
  • Whipped Cream
  • A pack of gummie worms
  • Milk
  • Cups
  • A spoon
  • 2 bowls

First I dumped out all the pudding from the JELLO cups into a bowl. I sprayed some whipped cream in the bowl and stirred it together. I covered the pudding mixture and placed it in the fridge to keep it cool.

Then in another bowl I tossed in two or more hand fulls of Oreo cookies. Sprayed some whipped cream in and poured a little bit of milk on the cookies. I crushed the cookies up until it looked like soil. You can make the cookie mixture wet or dry. If you want it to be a dry mixture just crush up the Oreos without the whipped cream and milk.

After that I got the cups. I put the cookie crumb mixture at the bottom of each cup. I then took out the pudding spooned that out on top of the cookie crumbs. Sprinkled some cookie crumbs on the pudding and placed the gummie worm on top.

Quick and easy...now let them eat dirt!

Mama needed her Mommy...

Hey Mamas,
On this hot and gloomy morning I was thinking of a few weeks ago. I felt so broken down and so small that all I could do is think of my mother. Looking at her in my father in a wedding picture I thought what was she like then. In my self pity I felt broken down like a child and decided to call my mother for help. I was barely able to talk as I cried I need my mommy, I need my mother. My mother didn't have too much to say but that she was on her way. It doesn't matter how old you get you will always still want your mother. As I watched my mother play with my sons and calmed my nerves I knew she brought comfort. As tough as I try to be and not tell her all the things I'm going through I needed her to be there. In her comfort she told me things I needed to hear even if I didn't want to hear them. I remember my sister and I always gathering around her to watch a movie or just to talk. I hope one day to have a daughter of my own to share that bond. My mother will probably want to kill me for putting up this picture of her and my older sister Keha but I love the picture. I love my mother... and that day she was there for me and she brought me comfort to my heart.
Love your mother everyday...I don't need a day to realize how special my mother is to me.

Never be a Fashion No, No !

Hey Mamas,

So I guess you just might be a fashionista but there are a few no nos holding you back. I was watching Rachel Ray today and she had a list of forbidden items that you should no longer have. I wanted to share this list with you and add a few of my own. Don't have the fashion police out on the hunt for you...Check out the list and these stylish alternatives.

  1. White stockings & Nude Stockings!!!

I have seen grown women with white stockings on with ballerina flats. In my mind I'm wondering is she trying to match her baby daughter. Nude stocking with open toed shoes is a no no. Throw away the stockings!

Stylish alternative: Wear the beautiful skin God gave you. Go bare and show those legs!

2. Scrunches (the fat ones you wear in your hair)

Those scrunches got to go. That 80's...90's phenomenon went out with that decade.

Stylish alternative: Cute neutral headbands or some metallic ones. Pull your hair back in style.

3. White pumps/white shoes matched up with a dress

Step away from the white shoes. Another 80's 90's trend that must go!

Stylish alternative: Try nude shoes they can go with any color...if you do choose a white shoe try a sandal that shows alot of skin!

4. Silver eyeliner just above the lid

Must I explain this...stop! This look is just not healthy. I remember some of my friends doing this in the 90's. Its over throw the silver away.

Stylish alternative: Try different colors on the rim of the eye. Vibrant blues, purples & gold will have your eyes looking fabulous.

5. Big sloppy t-shirts

No woman should be caught dead in one of these big or small. Leave the sloppy T's in the house!

Stylish Alternative: Fun flowy tops, fitted t-shirts, and the long dress like t-shirts that give you style. Have fun pairing them up with slim jeans and boy cut jeans.

Well Mamas the list could go on and on but I'll leave it to you to get it together. Out with the old and in with the new.

Mommy Rehab

Hey Mamas,

After getting some unexpected news in my life I decided to take a break on the blogs. Well I'm back now feeling hopeful and with more tips and tricks. I have been having a lot of thoughts on motherhood. As a mother in the twenty something age range I think of mothers like me. I'm almost close to being thirty something and with that physical change will happen and if focused spiritually growth will develop. I haven't really been feeling like my self and for a moment almost not really caring about keeping it cute for nobody. The funny thing I'm surprised about is that nobody has told me I look like crap walking around the house. I didn't notice how bad I looked until I was brushing my teeth in the mirror last night. Have you seen that Suave hair commercial above the blog. It is said that about 89% of mothers admit they have let themselves go...wow! Well add one more to the percentage. If you watch the commercial the mother goes through life and as she has more children she lets herself go. At the end of the commercial she is fabulous and pregnant. I love this commercial...it keeps me hopeful to a fabulous ending. Right now I feel like blah but the grocery store awaits me in a few hours so I think I'll do a little mommy rehab. Amazing how you can be an image consultant but get bummed out yourself. Well anywho today I will be fabulous regardless of any of my life issues. A change is a decision you make for you. When you are sick of looking a mess you go get help or go ask for help. The wonderful fact about my situation is I know just what to do to get my self out of my rut. So I'm off to my own "Mommy Rehab" wish me luck.

Pregnant in Heels...Why a Hott Mama will never give them up!

Hey Mamas,
While other pregnant mothers were wearing their ballerina flats I had on my heels. Some may wonder why and how can you do it? I believe for me it was just in my nature to wear them. I wore them when I wasn't pregnant and I wouldn't stop wearing them because I was pregnant. At times I would wear little heels that others thought were extremely to high for a pregnant woman to wear. Women would glare , shake their head, or make a comment. All I could think is today I'm fabulous and a flat shoe just won't do for this outfit. All I can say is continue doing you if you love wearing heels while prego. When you are pregnant everything is changing and you still want to keep a little something sexy about your self. I think people believe pregnancy means big bulky clothes and flat shoes. Give those heels up girl...people will say. I say wear your heels and have fun! Jennifer Lopez wore her heels all the way up to 9 months and she was carrying twins. If you can wear them and they're not hurting you...wear them. The Mamas that are worried about the prego heel wearing Mamas... hush and put on some heels!!!

Fashion Alert: Spring into Stripes!

Hey Mamas,

Designers every year start trends that the masses follow. At times I will like the trend or hate it and never incorporate it in my wardrobe, but this "Stripe Trend" has been around forever. I'm loving adding pattern and texture to clothes. So this Spring and Summer try to add some stripes in your wardrobe. You can find stripes in just about everything. You can wear big bold stripes with thin skinny stripes. Combine stripes with floral prints and bright solids. You can get shoes with stripes on them and add a striped scarf. Bring out your inner zebra and have fun striping it up!

Mama's Budget Tip Trick...

Hey Mamas,
I go through more baby wipes than you can imagine. I had to come up with a quick to make my wipes last longer. I got a spray bottle filled it with warm water and liquid soap. When I open their diaper I spray them down with the soapy water. Then I wipe them off with a wipe or two. After that I use baby powder to keep them dry and fresh. It works and I only use about 2 wipes on a dirty diaper. Try it let me know how it works out for you.

Being Mommy Comes 1st

Hey Mamas,

Spring is here and with everything being new some new opportunities have came in my life. A month ago I had an offer to go back to my career as an esthetician. I was so excited about the opportunity but there was so many things standing in the way. In my mind I thought I could be Super Woman and make it all happen. I continued to call the guy that owned the place making plans to be in there by next month. The entire process I kept seeing warning signs that this would be conflicting to me being a mommy. After being told rules and regulations at this place of business I had to decide will this work out with my family routine. My youngest is only one and my oldest get out of school very late. I deal with a very hectic schedule and I had to weigh out the pros and cons. Is this job worth it? I talked to my family and came to the conclusion that being mommy comes first. Other opportunities will come my way and they will be best for me and my family. Just because jobs are offered don't always mean you should take them. So as I type this blog I hold my youngest son on my lap and share my thoughts with you. I'm a mommy and that is something I do great for right now.I'm not mad nor sad for making sacrifices to be the best mommy I can be.

Where have all the nice girls gone?

Hey Mamas!
We have all used "lol" or put up a smiley face. In a text, IM, an email, or post on some social site we will see them. When we see this acronym or face we know the person is being friendly. I usually go on social sites or IM people and we will laugh it up on the computer. Sometimes I will have friendly conversations on the computer. I leave off the cyber world thinking dag so and so is a nice person. The funny thing that I experience is when I meet them in person they are nothing like I expected them to be. What shocks me the most but shouldn't is their not friendly and even sometimes very rude...smh(yes I'm really shaking my head!) In this day and age being nice can be masked with a smiley face and lol. I'm thinking if you took the time to be kind on the computer do the same in person. Let's be real mamas! I don't think you have to run and jump in someones arms hugging them and screaming hello. I do think you can say hello and seriously mean it without having your face screwed up. Nice girls and women need to make a come back. If you are really mean or don't want to be bother act that way on the computer. Blaque Beauty Mama in this blog that's what your gonna get. Yes at times I may be a little bit shy but if you come and talk to me I will more times than never act like I don't know you. I have a personality like my mother. My mother will talk to strangers like she knew them forever. Yes, the cyber world is different but my question is "Does this change who you are in person?" I don't think it should...

Mama's New Hot Find! :Chocolate Cheerios

Hey Mamas,
Two weeks ago I was in the grocery store with one of my sons. Skye jumps off the cart and grabs down some Chocolate Cheerios. I turn my nose but thinking yuck. I have always hated chocolate cereals. A couple of days later we are having cereal for breakfast and majority of the boys want some. I'm feeding my youngest son his Chocolate Cheerios and decided to have a little bite. The baby starts crying because I'm eating more of his cereal than feeding. I must say this cereal has grown on me and I love it! Most chocolate cereals are full of sugar but this has just the right amount of sweetness. Chocolate Cheerios has grown on me and it gets better with every bowl I eat. I am a chocolate lover so hopefully I will have my Cheerios before I go grab a candy bar. Try Chocolate Cheerios...go get a box today!
BTW...read the ingredients you will be surprised. You can read every word...lol
